I may have mentioned last week that I was not sure if I could post this week. Once again, sorry for the delay. I have actually been drawing, but one picture I made last week was meant to be auctioned off for my high school's Drama Club. I may upload that here next week or sometime in the future, but I figured it might be a little more special if it is not online yet. Then again, that drawing only went for $12, while the Pokemon comic I drew sold for $50. (I was kind of floored when that happened.)
In the meantime, I can upload one of my older drawings and talk about that for a little bit. So, this week, I want to introduce you to another character from the Lucids world I keep mentioning: Wendy Krane.
Wendy is a talented and often serious member of the Dream Police at Subcon Academy. She learned about the Dream Dimension at age 11 and quickly became proficient with her Lucid abilities, enough to skip some of the training at the academy and start taking missions immediately. It is said that she joined the academy in an effort to carve a name for herself and to escape the stress of her childhood life. It is also said that even though Wendy is not fond of Ken Thunder, the two of them work exceptionally well together. Wendy is not an easy person to befriend, but she has warmed up to Sakura.
Wendy's primary abilities as a Lucid are focused around wind. In addition to unleashing powerful gusts to toss her enemies around, she can also propel herself around the battlefield with phenomenal speed and surprising control. Her wind propulsion makes her one of the fastest Lucids around. The fans that she carries both amplify her wind powers and serve as melee weapons that can be used to slash at opponents (if open) or bludgeon them (if closed).
I actually have uploaded an image of Wendy before (along with many other Lucid characters) in the first picture I ever uploaded to this blog. As you can see, though, she has undergone a drastic redesign. Rather than making her resemble a dancer, she is dressed to more closely resemble a pilot or a cadet. The wings in her hair have also given way to bushy pigtails, which might still be thought of as "airlike". The longer nose is also meant to make it look slightly more like a bird's beak. The machinations of the Lucids universe have changed a lot in my head over time, and while Wendy was just going to be a cocky rival to Ken before, she turned into somebody who was more reserved overtime.
One thing that did not change about Wendy, however, was my ideas for her coloring. Her original design was inspired by the Flying Gym Leader in Pokemon Emerald, and thus, I always envisioned her color scheme heavily involving light blue (possibly cyan) and purple. Her skin color is more pale than I originally conceived, but again, this was a decision to emphasize "airiness".
That is about all I have to say about Wendy for now. And if you are curious about what I auctioned off last night, take a look at these.
