Concept Comic: Fullmoon

Before I get into this week's picture, I just want to apologize for not posting anything last week.  I started a bit late on the picture I was going to show off, and it turned out to be a bit more ambitious than I thought it was going to be.  I do tend to be easily distracted sometimes, but I do want to return to that picture-a-week routine.

So, what was so big that I could not post last week?  Well, I enjoyed drawing that Pokemon comic a few weeks ago, so I thought I would try another comic.

Here we have my character, Sakura Miyazaki, in a situation where she must use her abilities to obtain something.  In some of my drawings of Sakura before, I have drawn the discs she creates for her abilities, but those pictures did not really capture what her those abilities do very well.  Therefore, I drew this comic in order to display the basics behind her "Fullmoon" idea: where she creates a white disc that draws loose objects or projectiles toward her.

I also drew this comic simply because I wanted to draw a comic.  I had so much fun with the last one I drew, and the people who saw it seemed to like it.  This time, though, I wanted to try a few different things with this one.  1.) Rather than having different panels set in different places, I wanted to settle this in one place.  2.) I wanted to experiment a little with the layout.  Last time I made a comic, I had guidelines to lay the panels down, but this time I just slapped the panels down without guidelines.  I also wanted to try popping a character out of the panel for emphasis.  I think what I did for Panel 3 was fine for now, but next time I try this, I want to see if I can try a "panel" without borders, one that other panels would overlay.  That could be neat.

Next week, I will be auctioning off a few pictures for my old high school's drama club.  I want to draw two or three unique things for that before I post them here, so I do not know if I will update next week.  I might, but after that, I would like to get back on track.  Again, I am sorry that I did not post this last week.
