Blue & Gold Dragon

I feel like I have an affinity toward dragons.  I was born in the Year of the Dragon, according to the Chinese calendar.  You do not see actual dragons in real life (I cannot count the Komodo "dragon" as one), so you cannot be sure what they could actually be like.  Perhaps they were powerful beasts that terrorized the masses.  Maybe they were actually wise beings that aided the weak or imparted their knowledge to "lesser beings".  For all we know, they might have spawned from carp when they leaped up a waterfall.  The bad news is that dragons do not exist in reality.  The good news is because of that, we can probably create whatever mythology around them that we want.

In this case, I created a young dragon in armor.

This dragon was a young one that had been living with his family until recently.  He and his father set off to fight a group of ruthless raiders that invaded his home.  The father dragon was captured and dragged away by the raiders, but this dragon was wounded by the raiders as well.  The young dragon then set off to collect various metallic treasures that he could use as weapons against the raiders in an effort to rescue his father.

At least, that is the story for this character.  Really, I wanted to make this little dragon a mascot character.  In my head, I have this idea for a game-related show, and this is my first attempt at a mascot for that show.  He would not really be an active part of the show itself, but rather a character that appears in between segments of the show to make exclamations about what is happening.

There was a bit of logic behind the design here.  While I chose a dragon for this due to my aforementioned affinity toward them, I also chose it as an overall symbol for games.  Dragons in other forms of media that I have seen (movies, cartoons, etc.) have not exactly been impressive to me lately, but dragons in video games can be rather intimidating, and they have been even in the 80s (Chief Arino can back me up on that one).  As for the colors, remember how last week, I mentioned that blue and gold are the colors of the Boston Marathon?  Well, the show would occur in New England (mainly in Massachusetts), so I went for a second week in a row with gold and blue coloring.

Do you guys like this one?  I am not sure how committed I am to this design, so I may try again.  Please let me know what you like or dislike about this.
